Food Price Surge Seen Dramatic
Over Next Five Years
As a result
of the sharp and sustained increase in input costs, food
inflation could rise by an average of 9 percent annually
between 2008 and 2012 as the rising costs are passed on
to consumers, according to a new study. -

Groups
Launch 'Food Before Fuel' Campaign
More than
20 groups, comprised of food processors and retail, environmental,
hunger and food industry organizations, on Tuesday launched
a cooperative effort to urge Congress to revisit the nation's
food-to-fuel policies, called the Food Before Fuel campaign.

AMI Urges USDA To Require
Test-And-Hold
The American
Meat Institute on Tuesday told USDA it would support an
agency policy that would require companies to hold product
tested by the Food Safety and Inspection Service until
the agency returns test results. -
