Who We Are
The American Association of Meat Processors (AAMP), is North America’s largest meat trade organization. Membership includes more than 1,600 medium-sized and smaller meat, poultry, and food businesses: slaughterers, packers, processors, wholesalers, in-home food service business, retailers, deli and catering operators, and industry suppliers. AAMP members are from the U.S., Canadian provinces, and several foreign countries. AAMP’s Board of Directors, consisting of 18 members, has general executive powers and general jurisdiction of all business of the association. AAMP is also affiliated with 28 state, regional and provincial meat trade organizations. Our Mission
It is the mission of AAMP to provide quality service, knowledge through education, regulatory representation, and networking opportunities for our members. On a daily basis, AAMP assists a number of processors with inspection-related issues. Whether it is assisting processors on how to respond to non-compliance reports or providing the facts of what the regulation really is, AAMP is available to assist you. ![]() History
In the mid 1930’s builders of locker plants and locker plant equipment organized the Frozen Food Locker Manufacturers. By the late 1930’s the Frozen Food Locker Manufacturers was eventually known as Frozen Food Locker Institute (FFLI) – Supplier Group.In 1937 Iowa organized the first state association of locker plant operators and other states soon followed. In 1939 leaders of a number of state locker associations met in Des Moines, Iowa. They organized the National Frozen Food Locker Association (NFFLA) – Operator Group.
